This is the moment when you are almost there. You've done really well to start, you're not new to this and yet you're not done yet. I think this is the hardest part. To keep going. To actually finish what you started.
My husband is half way done with his undergraduate degree. Though his start was a challenge - this right here, right now I would say has been the hardest I have seen him work. The work is not harder but it is getting harder for him to complete the work.
What happens in the middle, when you're almost there is you get bored, easily distracted, and just plain exhausted from it all?
Watching my husband tarry like this is hard to watch because I can see him at the finish line but he is the one running the race. The chapters probably feel like they are longer and more difficult to read. The papers can feel like you are saying the same stuff over and over again. The showing up to class can just be a drag if you've been up until 2am studying only to wake up at 5:45am to have family morning worship.
But finishing is the plan. Regardless of what it takes. When we set out to do what God has called us to do it is vital that we finish. This is the life God has called us to. He made us in His image which includes His personhood and character to finish what He starts.
Finish the dissertation
Finish the painting
Finish the bra drive
Finish the sermon
Finish the choreography
Finish the plan
Because there is another assignment for the rest of your life that God is calling you to work on. Whatever these assignments are, please know that there will be a struggle at the beginning, the middle, and when you're almost there. But when that assignment is complete - I hope you celebrate and get ready to the next one.
